erratic idle
so my car idles between 750 to 500rpm, I fixed my stalling issue where it would stall out of nowhere with the tach flipping out going up and down, Crank sensor was bad. Now could the idle issuse be caused by o2 sensors being bad or dead?

Re: erratic idle
First off I need to know the year of the vehicle. It sounds like you are not getting the right air/fuel
ratio. Try to see what the air/fuel ratio is if you have a management system. If not then if you have a B15 you would have to bring it ov3r to a nissan dealership near you and they should relearn the idle by using a consult only. Also try to determine if you have an intake leak or exhaust leak which could also cause a stalling. o2 sensors can also affect your performance if you have an exhaust leak. Again you need to monitor the sensors parameter with a management system or a consult. If your running rich then you should also see black smoke coming out from the exhaust when at wot. Even coolant temp sensors could change your a/f ratio.

Re: erratic idle
2002 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.8L
The cooling system doesn't work, it went out and I could never figure out why, I don't have any controlling software or units. I was looking at getting a Autoengquitny and nissan pack to read sensor data, since my car hasn't thrown any codes, no SES light has come on, note the ECU was replaced cause the first one died.
BTW the stalling problem was fixed, the crankshaft position sensor was malfuctioning, causing it to stall on the road, it got worse to the point where I finally replaced it.
the only real problem I can tell now is it idles between 500 to 750.
I'll check for black smoke but my tail pipe is covered with black stuff all over it.

Re: erratic idle
Is your idle hunting or is just not stable. What type of mods do you have on your vehicle. Another thing is that you said you had a cooling system problem with your vehicle. 1st you need to fix the cooling system then you need to relearn the throttle plate by turning the ignition switch to the on position for ten seconds then turning it to the off position for 3 seconds three times. After you relearn the accelerator pedal then diagnosing could be alot easier which could lead to just an idle relearn. good luck
